Sugar and spice and everything enjoyable, that’s what apple fritters are made of! Classic apple fritters are a hugely popular donut shop treat. The crispy dough is sweet and filled with bits of apple and a hint of cinnamon. And the whole thing is topped off with a sweet drizzle of icing.
And folks, thanks to the air fryer, they are so simple to make at home, cooking up air fryer apple fritters is so rapid and so simple, you’ll wonder why you didn’t try it sooner. Plus you get all the deliciousness of this sentimental sweet treat, without the excess oil and calories that come with deep-frying.
Air Fryer Apple Fritters
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup (200g) sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- pinch ground nutmeg
- pinch ground cardamom optional
- 2 eggs
- ¼ cup (60ml) milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 apples peeled, cored, and chopped
- cooking spray or oil for brushing
- glaze if preferred
First Preheat the air fryer to 350F / 180C.
Then whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and spices in a mixing bowl.
After Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract, whisking to combine.
Stir in the apples; the dough should hold together.
Then measure out around a ⅓ cup of dough for each fritter, and add to the basket of the air fryer. Making sure to leave space in between. Spray or brush the fritters with oil, then fry for eight -8- minutes.
After Flip, the apple fritters, spray or brush the other side with oil and cook for an additional three -3- minutes.
Finally, remove from the air fryer, drizzle with glaze, and serve.
